What an incredible event! Seeing a need in our community, we’re honored to support Bridging the Gap’s “Christmas in Coweta,” a non-profit dedicated to bringing joy to children this holiday season. These gifts go beyond material items - they enhance the spirit of the holiday.
This year, I’m especially grateful to have my 91-year old grandmother share her story at the event. She spoke about her upbringing and how the few gifts she received ultimately changed the trajectory of her life.
I’d like to personally thank Daniel, owner of @dssc.fayette and Logan, owner of @crossfitsweetwater and Taylor, owner of @elementsrecoveryzone for their support and participation, and of course, the overwhelming generosity of ALL members at CrossFit Higher Ground.

“I grew up in Sharpsburg, GA, and I graduated from the University of West Georgia with a major in finance. Growing up I always enjoyed being active and outside, but I wasn’t involved in any organized sports. In 2020, I started running, but I quickly got bored. Having heard about CrossFit for many years, I walked into a local affiliate, and I was hooked. After my first workout, I was so sore and wasn’t sure I would be able to drive home. The constant variety within CrossFit kept it very engaging. 4 years in, and I still am challenged to keep improving as an athlete.
In December of 2023, I was able to earn my CrossFIt Level 1 certificate, and I am so blessed to be able to help other athletes in their health and fitness journey. I have seen first hand how the changes that are done in the gym can help transform people’s lives. I love to help others achieve their goals. Outside of the gym, I enjoy being active, doing anything at a lake, and spending time with friends and family and my church. I also enjoy being able to find new ways to challenge myself through triathlons or other competitions and races.”

With each rep of this workout, we honor a fallen soldier who fought for our freedom. Join us on Saturday, May 25th, at 7:30, 8:00, 8:30 or 9:00 am. Photos 1&2: Mastering the J Hook
The J hook is one of the most import parts of the rope climb. Getting our feet set and secure ensures each athlete is safe while climbing. We start athletes seated on a box to maximize confidence before having to support themselves from a hanging position.
Photo 3: Bring the Feet High
When climbing the rope, the first part often imitates a Toes to Bar motion; pushing the torso back to allow room for the feet to move up higher. This is best practiced standing next to the rope. After hooking the feet, athletes should stand fully vertical and repeat.
Photo 4: Scaling Progressions
For those new to rope climbs, Coach Taylor started athletes on the floor. Athletes walk themselves down and back up the rope building the arm strength needed to support their bodyweight when hanging.
Photos 5&6: Put it in Action
Athletes then had the opportunity to work on each step of the progression, and gain confidence for the workout!
